The PSM 100 unit sieves and separates metal powder under inert gas conditions. The collected powder from overflow cans from the SLM additive manufacturing system is manually supplied to the sieving system. The sieved GO grain and oversized powder are collected in separate cans underneath the system for further use.

The sieving process runs automatically and does not have influence on the parallel running build process of the SLM system, which reduces the ancillary times. To support and speed up the sieving procedure, an additional ultrasonic cleaning device can be added.

The automatic powder filtering unit is equipped with a special vacuum that empties the process chamber and refills the powder container under an inert gas atmosphere. A suction unit is connected to an intermediate container and the powder is forward-controlled to the vibration sieving system. Sieved GO grain powder then passes into a stainless steel container that is fixed into position inside the sieving system. Likewise, the system is equipped with an additional ultrasonic device that supports the sieving procedure.

To further reduce ancillary times, the automatic sieving procedure does not influence the parallel-running build processes of the SLM system.

The powder filtering unit is equipped with a special screw system that empties the process chamber and refills the powder container under an inert gas atmosphere. Build volume is carried out to a container station to empty the whole build powder into a funnel. From this device, the powder is then forward-controlled to the vibration sieving system. Sieved GO grain powder then passes into a stainless steel container that is fixed into position inside the sieving system. Likewise, the system is equipped with an additional ultrasonic device that supports the sieving procedure.

Fine mesh filters and sieves are standard and commercially available products and pre-assembled with a 100µm mesh insert. Fresh powder is fed via the screw system from the main reservoir; either directly to the re-coater or a defined powder volume above the system.
